Contrary to what you may believe, hypnosis is actually a natural state of mind.  If you think about when your mind wanders, when you day dream, or when you are focussed on some form of automatic activity such as driving, reading, watching the television, we can be in a state of trance.  It can perhaps be better described as being in a relaxed state, similar to being in a meditative state.  Our conscious mind drifts and relaxes, but we are still in control and awake.  Hypnosis can feel similar to the feeling of when you drift off to sleep at night, the stage when you are not quite awake and not quite asleep, just a feeling of relaxation.

When our conscious minds are relaxed, our subconscious mind which holds all our early learning and memories, can be accessed more easily and is responsive to suggestion.  Through hypnotherapy, it is possible to help the subconscious mind respond differently to situations, enabling irrational fears, phobias, negative thoughts and suppressed emotions to be overcome.

Hypnotherapy can be used to treat many issues, including :
