How sessions work

At PACE, I offer a no-obligation initial appointment at a reduced cost. This first appointment is a helpful opportunity for us to meet each other and for you to  decide whether you will feel comfortable with the counselling process.  Most importantly, it allows us to have time to talk about the issues you would like help with and to discuss any queries you may have about counselling.  If you choose to continue counselling with me, sessions will be 50 minutes in length on a weekly basis.  The number of sessions can be open ended or short term, and we can discuss what may be most helpful for you when we meet.

I will listen carefully to what has brought you to counselling and what you want to gain from the experience.  I will not judge you nor direct you towards anything as the space is for you to explore your thoughts and your experiences.  I offer a safe and confidential space for you to do this.

The counselling I offer is underpinned by the psychodynamic approach, which is based on the view that our feelings, thoughts and behaviour can be influenced by our past experiences and relationships.  In our sessions together, we would aim to understand how your own experiences may be affecting your present day life and relationships.  In doing this, you will be able to see your choices more clearly and see a way forward to make changes if you wish to do so.
