I am a qualified counsellor and clinical hypnotherapist with many years experience of helping people manage emotional difficulties such as relationship issues, anger and stress with the aim of working towards positive change in their lives. In addition to working in private practice, I work as a counsellor with young people in school and with adults in a community counselling service.
Prior to establishing Pace Counselling & Hypnotherapy, I worked for 28 years within major organisations in the area of counselling, behavioural change, problem solving and crisis management. I have the fundamental belief that people are experts in their own lives, but that sometimes when we are in crisis or when problems are too overwhelming, it is difficult to see a way forward. I see the aim of counselling as a means whereby people can be helped to reconnect with their inner resources and achieve the changes they wish for themselves. I have had thorough training as a counsellor, qualifying with a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling in 2004. My clinical work over the years has been enhanced through additional specialist training courses which include:
- Solution-Focussed Brief Therapy
- Time-Limited Counselling
- Life Coaching
- Forensic Casework
- Understanding suicide and self-harm
- Sexual Abuse
- Alcohol and Drug Misuse
- Eating Disorders
My skills enable me to utilise different models of counselling and tailor techniques to your individual need. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I have enhanced clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service for work with children and vulnerable adults. As a Hypnotherapist, I hold a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and I am also a Clinical Practitioner in the use of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).
